Honest Summary

pi-notebook is a dedicated learning tool. We do not sell your personal data, we do not run third-party advertising trackers, and your vault notes belong to you. Below is exactly what data is collected, how it is processed, and how you control it.

1. Data Stored Server-Side

When you use pi-notebook, your user account information (email address, name, hashed password), profile preferences, session logs, and personal vault files (markdown notes) are stored server-side in our isolated application database.

This server-side storage allows your vault and learning sessions to sync across your devices and be backed up securely.

2. AI Provider & Prompt Processing

To provide interactive Socratic tutoring, create checkpoint quizzes, and write markdown notes into your vault, your prompts, questions, and active note contents are processed by our configured AI providers (such as Google Gemini / Antigravity).

These prompts are transmitted securely via API strictly to perform the tutoring and synthesis functions requested by you during active sessions.

3. Vault Export & Account Deletion

We believe in complete data portability and zero vendor lock-in. You can export your entire vault at any time as standard Markdown files formatted for Obsidian.

You can also permanently delete your account and all associated vault notes, chat transcripts, and session logs at any time directly in your account Settings. Once requested, your data is purged from our production database.

4. Cookies & Session Authentication

We use secure, HTTP-only session cookies strictly for authentication and maintaining your logged-in state. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising tracking cookies.

5. Changes to This Policy

As pi-notebook evolves throughout the public beta, we may update this policy to reflect new features (such as custom LLM provider keys or team vaults). Any material changes will be announced in your workspace dashboard.

6. Contact & Inquiries

If you have any questions or data requests regarding your privacy, please contact the pi-notebook maintainers or open an issue on our repository.
